Movement and Connection Retreat in Crete (3 full days)

📍 Crete, Greece, Greece 📅 5 days 🎯 All levels 🌿 Countryside

About This Retreat

Reconnect with your body through dance, breath, and movement in the wild beauty of Crete. Come as you are, move freely, and return home feeling lighter, grounded, and alive.

Over three full days (four nights), you'll be invited to slow down, reconnect with your body, and rediscover the joy of moving freely. Each day begins with gentle breathing and movement practices inspired by Margaret Morris Movement (MMM), helping you release tension, improve mobility, and awaken your body with ease. We then explore guided movement improvisation, using simple invitations that encourage creativity, curiosity, and authentic self-expression-no dance experience required. Afternoons offer time to rest, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, or take a swim before gathering again for an evening session of movement, breath, reflection, and connection. Throughout the retreat, you'll be held in a small, supportive group where there is no pressure to perform-only an invitation to listen to yourself and move in a way that feels true. You'll return home feeling lighter, calmer, more grounded, and equipped with simple embodied practices to support your wellbeing long after the retreat ends.

Dr. Katerina Kandylaki

Dance & Movement Facilitator, Dance Teacher, Cognitive Neuroscientist

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that movement should be a space for exploration, not performance. In a world where we often feel pressure to move, look, and express ourselves in certain ways, Dance, Movement & Breathing offers something different: a space where there is no ideal shape to achieve and no style to master. I combine creative movement exploration with practices informed by neuroscience, designed to support the nervous system, deepen body awareness, and create a sense of ease and connection. My classes offer gentle structures and creative invitations that guide you while leaving space for your own expression. “Make circles and spirals with your elbow” is a simple example: the instruction gives direction, but the movement itself belongs entirely to you. Through this balance of guidance and freedom, supported by an understanding of how the brain and body learn, you can reconnect with yourself, discover your own way of moving, and experience the joy of authentic expression.
