About This Retreat

A six-day longevity residency on a private estate near Lisbon, measured on day one and day six and hosted all week by the co-founders.

A six-day longevity residency for the darker months: mild days, more daylight than the north and long nights for deep sleep. Atlas Cove is a guided longevity residency on a private estate beside the Serra da Arrábida, about fifty minutes from Lisbon airport. One gate, one small cohort at a time, hosted all week by the co-founders, Lisa and Tom Wuerden. Your week is built on two sets of numbers: how your body is working and how you are feeling. VO2 max, body composition, grip strength and blood pressure are measured on day one and day six. Validated wellbeing questionnaires come before you arrive and after you leave, and a contactless sensor under your mattress tracks sleep and heart rate variability every night. The days share one calm rhythm. Mornings start with a guided meditation and journaling, then yoga, then the main training block: strength with Tom or a guided hike across the estate. Breakfast follows at the long table. Late morning holds a mindset session and your 1-on-1s. Afternoons are for real rest: the heated pool, a book or a nap. As the light goes, the contrast circuit opens: wood-fired sauna, cold plunge and red light. Dinner is shared at the long table, and lights go out at 21:00 for a protected sleep window until 06:30. On the fourth morning we watch the sun rise over the Atlantic at Praia dos Galapos. On the last morning you receive your Personalised Health Toolbox: your before-and-after numbers, your three priorities and simple habits for the life you return to. Seven guests joined our founding cohort in September 2026. Four of the five who completed the follow-up improved on a validated mental wellbeing scale, and grip strength rose beyond normal measurement variation for most guests between day one and day six. A small group, and we report it that way. We provide health strategy and lifestyle coaching. We don't practise medicine, diagnose or prescribe.

Your Teachers

Tom Wuerden

Tom Wuerden

Co-founder, physical performance and nutrition

Tom is an engineer who became an Ironman, and somewhere along the way became the person his friends call when they want to actually change something about how they eat, sleep, or train. He’s finished marathons and long-course triathlons, and holds Precision Nutrition certifications in nutrition coaching and in sleep, stress & recovery, but what guests tend to remember is how unhurried he is with the question of where they actually are right now. At Atlas Cove, Tom helps you find the two or three changes that will genuinely move the needle in your life, and build them at a pace you can keep long after the week is over.

Lisa Wuerden

Lisa Wuerden

Co-founder, mindset and hormone health

Lisa came to longevity work from outside it. She built a career in tech before becoming obsessed with a question that wouldn’t leave her alone: why people who know what’s good for them so often can’t get themselves to do it. Atlas Cove is her answer, built around an idea most longevity programs still skip past: that how we think and feel doesn’t just shape our days, it shapes our cells. Her work draws on Martin Picard’s research into mitochondria and emotion, and on Marc Brackett’s framework for emotional intelligence, but what guests tend to remember is that she’s unhurried, plain-spoken, and genuinely interested in the actual texture of their lives. Across the week, Lisa helps you see the thought patterns running quietly underneath everything, name them precisely, and learn the tools to change them.
